Nonsurgical treatments are becoming more popular than ever, and CoolSculpting is a favorite among many of the Rochester, NY men and women we treat at Q the Medical Spa at Lindsay House. This body contouring treatment noticeably reduces fat without surgery, anesthesia, or downtime.

If you are considering CoolSculpting but are a bit unsure about the process, this blog post will outline what to expect during your treatment.

What happens during a CoolSculpting consultation?

During this initial conversation with one of our CoolSculpting University-trained providers, you’ll discuss your goals and concerns to determine whether you’re an ideal CoolSculpting candidate or whether you would be better served by a different treatment, such as EMSCULPT®. Your provider will also discuss how many treatments you’ll likely need and work with you to formulate a personalized treatment plan.

What is the CoolSculpting treatment experience like?

First, your provider will have you relax in a comfortable chair as she applies the CoolSculpting applicator to your target area. The applicator uses suction to hold the tissue in place, so you may feel some tugging during this step.

The target area will then grow cold before eventually going numb after 5 to 7 minutes. At this point, you’ll be free to relax, read, or nap for the remainder of your treatment, which typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes.

Does CoolSculpting hurt?

Other than the initial cold sensation, you likely won’t feel anything during the treatment. As the treated area warms back up at the end of the session, you may feel tingling, tenderness, or itchiness, which typically subsides within a couple of days.

What is the Zimmer ZWave massage?

The Zimmer ZWave massage is the final step in your CoolSculpting treatment. It efficiently spreads out the treated fat cells to encourage more even fat reduction and enhanced results.

What is recovery like after CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting requires little to no downtime. You’ll be able to return to work, home, or even the gym immediately afterward. You may notice redness, swelling, or mild bruising in the treated area over the next few days, but this shouldn’t stop you from enjoying your usual daily activities.

When will I see my CoolSculpting results?

As your body naturally eliminates the treated fat cells, you’ll likely start to see results after 3 to 4 weeks, with full results taking shape after about 2 months. At this point, you’ll be able to determine whether additional treatments would better help you achieve your body contouring goals.
