HALO is the world’s first hybrid factional laser (HFL) that precisely targets years of skin damage and visible signs of aging.  HALO treats wrinkles, discoloration, sun damage, visible signs of aging, enlarged pores, and overall poor skin appearance.

Women and men visit Q the Medical Spa for HALO treatments from throughout Rochester, Victor, Syracuse, Pittsford, Canandaigua, and surrounding New York communities.

How Does HALO Work?

HALO is a fractional resurfacing system that utilizes two wavelengths in its delivery, ablative and non-ablative, to controlled and precise microscopic treatment areas in the dermis and epidermis.  This combination maximizes results and reduces downtime of fractional skin resurfacing, resulting in the improvement of pigmentation and the appearance of skin, as well as other effects of sun damage.  HALO can treat all skin types and can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs to improve:

  • Sun damage
  • Visible signs of aging
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Discoloration
  • Scars
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Enlarged pores
  • Actinic keratoses

What to Expect During Your HALO Treatment

Clients are required to have a personal consultation appointment with one of our Nurse Practitioners to determine if they are a candidate for the procedure and to determine the intensity and number of treatments needed to reach your skin improvement goals.  During this time, a thorough health history will take place and a detailed explanation of the HALO procedure will be given.

On the day of the procedure, expect to be with us for approximately 1.5 hours.  A numbing cream is applied for 45 minutes prior to the treatment to increase the comfort level during the procedure.  The actual laser time may be as little as 15 minutes to 25 minutes.

What Does HALO Feel Like?

Generally, the HALO treatment is very comfortable, and only a topical anesthetic is recommended to ensure clients experience little to no discomfort.

What is Recovery After HALO Like?

The HALO treatment is non-invasive with little to no downtime.  At the end of the laser treatment, your face will feel very warm, like you have a sunburn.  This sensation will last up to 1.5 hours, but you can use cold packs and hydrating spring water spray to stay comfortable.  The skin may feel slightly tight after this period but not painful.

HALO treatment outcomes are based on the aggressiveness of the treatment, taking into account your skin concerns, the health of your skin, and your individual ability to heal.  Due to this, patient response can vary.  Redness and swelling are expected responses following a treatment, and the degree of redness and length of healing time will increase with the depth and coverage of the procedure.

The skin will begin to peel which may take up to 6 days depending on the level of treatment.  It is advisable to avoid direct sun exposure and to use sunscreen.

Who Is a Candidate for HALO?

Candidates for HALO include men and women who are looking to treat any area of the face or body showing signs of aging due to sun exposure and aging.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect From HALO?

Results from HALO are impressive and many clients report their skin feeling softer at the end of the first week, with more skin clarity and an overall glow.  Continued improvement is expected over time, with most seeing the greatest improvement in the first 2 to 3 weeks.  HALO triggers the skin’s natural healing response, so the appearance of the skin is visibly improved and a more youthful glow is restored.  Most clients can expect to see results after one to two treatments, but results vary for each client depending on the condition treated, number of treatments, and the area treated.
