MOXI is a non-ablative fractional laser used for skin resurfacing at our Rochester, NY, practice to revitalize skin. Designed with everyone in mind and developed as a skincare treatment that can be used for both “prejuvenation” and maintenance, the MOXI laser is safe for all skin types during any time of the year.

Women and men visit Q the Medical Spa for MOXI fractional laser resurfacing from Victor, Syracuse, Pittsford, Canandaigua, and surrounding New York communities.

How Does MOXI Work?

MOXI is a gentle yet effective laser resurfacing treatment that utilizes laser energy to create a microscopic epidermal tissue response. It can treat all skin types and can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands to improve:

  • Sun damage
  • Visible signs of aging
  • Pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Texture
  • Melasma
  • Mild scarring

What To Expect During Your MOXI Treatment

Clients are required to have a personal consultation appointment with one of our nurses to determine if they are a candidate for the procedure. If you are, the nurse creates a treatment plan for your skin improvement goals. During this time, the nurse takes a thorough health history and explains the MOXI procedure in detail.

On the day of the procedure, expect to be with us for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. The treatment is comfortable, but an anesthetic cream is always required. We apply the topical anesthetic 30 minutes prior to treatment. The actual treatment time will be 15 to 20 minutes.

What Is Recovery Like After a MOXI Treatment?

The MOXI treatment is non-invasive with little downtime. At the end of the laser treatment, your face will feel very warm, like you have a sunburn. This sensation will last 2 to 24 hours, but you can use cold compresses and a hydrating spring water spray to stay comfortable. The skin may be red, which is normal and expected. Keeping the skin well moisturized will help the healing process. Swelling is also common and expected immediately after treatment, and it may last 2 to 4 days. Clients receive specific post-care instructions that are reviewed during their consultations.

In most cases, clients are able to apply makeup 24 hours after treatment, as well as resume most activities. The skin will also be very dry and rough and may begin to flake and peel, which may take 1 to 2 weeks to resolve fully. We advise clients to avoid direct sun exposure and to use sunscreen daily as directed.

Who Is a Candidate for MOXI?

Candidates for MOXI include men and women who are looking to correct the initial signs of aging or sun-damaged skin. The treatment is also effective for maintaining healthy, youthful skin. MOXI is perfect for those who are just starting their skincare journey, those who are looking for a light touch-up, or those who want a laser skin resurfacing treatment with little downtime.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect From MOXI?

MOXI gives your skin a healthy glow, and many clients report their skin feeling softer with improved skin tone, texture, and clarity. Improvement can be seen after one treatment, but we recommend 3 to 4 treatments for full results. Results vary for each client.
