Razor Burn | A Hot Topic

It’s hard to believe that in the year 2021, razor burn continues to be a serious discussion.  It’s also hard to believe that just when you thought you knew everything about your best friend, there are things you’ve never shared!

You Switched Back to Shaving?!

As my friend and I scoured the web for swimsuits for our upcoming vacation, she commented on the models; not only were they long, lean and gorgeous, she pointed out that they had no apparent signs of razor burn or rash at the bikini line.  When I asked what she meant, she said that she had resumed shaving her bikini line after having spent so much time and money on Brazilian waxing.  She said that waiting 3-4 weeks between sessions, the discomfort, redness, and cost had driven her back to the quadruple head razor.  When I asked her why she had not considered laser hair removal, she responded that she thought it was “too costly and too painful.”  I told her that she was truly misinformed!  I was actually quite surprised at her lack of knowledge about this treatment, as she maintains a lovely appearance and is always the first one to try new products, spas, and services.

Why Laser Hair Removal?

We talked more about the procedure and the fact that many people find it more comfortable than waxing.  We discussed how fast the procedure really is and the long-lasting results (laser being the most permanent form of hair removal available).  When we discussed the price, we determined that she had spent about $850.00/year over the past few years on waxing.  She was shocked as she never really added it up.  Laser hair removal proved to be MUCH less costly and much more permanent with a smooth result, compared to other forms of hair removal.

Now, there are a variety of different options for laser hair removal, and it is a personal decision as to what hair to remove and what to leave.  This friend of mine ended up choosing the full bikini line treatment, which removes all the hair (suprapubic, inguinal, perineum, and perirectal if the patient desires).  To date, she has had 4 treatments and LOVES the result.  She was a trooper through all of the treatments, tolerating them extremely well and feeling very comfortable in my care.  Needless to say, her husband loves the result as well!

Are You Ready to Say Goodbye to Razor Burn?

So, what have I learned from all of this?  Well, for one, not EVERYONE has had laser hair removal, and I can’t assume their familiarity with the procedure, safety, efficacy, or cost.  Clearly, my work is not done!  If you are ready to say goodbye to razor burn, call 585.244.1010 to schedule your laser hair removal consultation.  I’d love to work with you to create a plan for smooth, summer-ready skin!
