Microneedling with or without Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Care Instructions
Before your microneedling (with or without PRP) treatment, please follow these instructions:
- Please call our office to reschedule your visit if you are experiencing an active herpes or acneic outbreak, open wound, sunburn, or inflammation as we will not be able to treat you until you have recovered. To assure you are still eligible for this treatment contact your provider at Q Med Spa regarding any recent changes in health history.
- Discontinue use of Retin-A or Hydroquinone products for 7 days leading up to your appointment.
- If you use or have used Accutane, you must remain off of Accutane for a minimum of 6 months before your treatment.
- Do not consume alcohol the day prior to your treatment.
- Please discontinue Aspirin, Ibuprofen or any herbal supplement that may increase bruising or bleeding. Your provider will review this with you further.
After your microneedling (with or without PRP) treatment, please follow these instructions:
Due to the nature of these treatments, you should expect the skin of the treated area to remain red or flushed for the next 24 to 72 hours. In addition, it is common to experience swelling, tightness, and tenderness to the touch. To assist with the swelling, a cold compress may be applied. Occasional bruising at the injection site may occur and will resolve within 5-7 days.
For the next 24 hours:
- Allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight. It is not unusual for the treated skin to feel tight and pulled.
- Do not pick or pull any loosening or exfoliating skin.
- Do not wash or touch your face, except for the application of hyaluronic acid and/or suggested or provided skincare.
- Do not apply any skincare products except for the hyaluronic serum and/or skincare suggested or provided by your provider.
- Hyaluronic serum provided should be applied multiple times throughout the day/evening of treatment.
- Do not apply make-up.
- Do not consume alcohol.
- Do not exercise or participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration.
- Do not use a Jacuzzi, steam room/sauna, or go swimming.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat.
Day 2 and 3 post-treatment:
- Do not apply any products with active ingredients or topical prescriptive creams or gels.
- Treat skin with caution, only applying a gentle cleanser and mild hydrator in the form of a cream or serum.
- You may shower, but do not use a Jacuzzi, steam room/sauna, or go swimming.
- Do not use Buff-Puffs or other means of mechanical exfoliation.
- Do not direct a hair dryer onto the treated area.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat.
- Use a recommended sunscreen for daily sun protection.
- You may apply a light makeup/foundation.
For 1 week post-treatment or as advised by your provider:
- Discontinue use of Retin A/Renova, or any other retinoid products for the next 7 days.
- Discontinue use of Hydroquinone for the next 7 days.
- Avoid perfume, body sprays, and lotions on the neck/decollate area.
- Do not receive any Botox or filler injections.
- Use a recommended sunscreen for daily sun protection.
For 2 weeks post-treatment or as advised by your provider:
- Do not receive any skin care services. such as but not limited to electrolysis, laser hair removal, facial waxing, depilatories, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, vibradermabrasion.
- Use a recommended sunscreen for daily sun protection.
Microneedling treatments are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart or as advised by your provider.
