LaseMD Ultra Care Instructions

Before your LaseMD Ultra treatment, please follow these instructions:

  • Thoroughly wash face and allow to air dry.
  • Do not apply any makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer, toner, etc.
  • Do not wear jewelry.
  • Please wear an open collar or wide-neck shirt.
  • Numbing will be applied 45-60 minutes prior to treatment; please allow up to 2.5 hours for total appointment time.

After your LaseMD Ultra treatment, please follow these instructions:

  • Patients may experience a burning sensation for 1-2 hours immediately after the treatment. Cooling with an ice pack can provide relief to the treated area. Make sure to enclose the ice pack in a paper towel or cloth to avoid putting ice directly on the skin.
  • Starting on day 1 post-treatment, you may cleanse your face with a mild cleanser and apply Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar morning and night for the first two weeks after treatment. Apply a gentle moisturizer following the application of the Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar.
  • Beginning on day 1 post-treatment, you may apply a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunblock with an SPF of 30+. Until the skin returns to normal, when outdoors always use an umbrella, hat, or other available protection against sunlight, as UV from the sun, even on a cloudy day, may cause hyperpigmentation on the treated area.
  • Mild crusting might be noticed in the days following treatment. Crusting will disappear naturally in several days. Do not pick at any crusting.
  • On day 3, you may soak the skin in the shower for 10-15 minutes and rub very gently with a washcloth to help with sloughing.
  • Avoid sun exposure for 7 days post-treatment.
  • You should avoid vigorous activity and excess heat for at least one week.
  • Avoid harsh topical or alcohol-based products for two weeks. Avoid products that contain active ingredients such as Retinol or AHA.
  • If itching is significant, please contact your provider.

Expected Skin Reactions and Results

  • Immediately following your procedure, the treated area will feel like a mild sunburn for 1-2 hours.
  • Common expected skin reactions include erythema (redness), edema (swelling), and slight discomfort after treatment.
  • Other, less common skin reactions include petechia which fade in a few days or bruising (purpura) which can take up to a week to disappear.
  • Other skin reactions include irritation, itching, and burning sensation. These typically subside in a few hours to 1 day but may get reaggravated with heat or sweating.
  • One day post-treatment, redness and transient edema fade, the skin begins to turn to a condition similar to before treatment, sometimes a bronzed appearance.
  • On days 2-5, skin may feel rough and dry.
  • On days 5-7, skin may become smoother and brighter.
  • One month after treatment, you may notice improved skin texture and tone.
