Micro-Needling and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

This innovative, non-surgical treatment popular amongst celebrities helps clients achieve smoother and firmer skin. Through the utilization of the Eclipse MicroPen®, microscopic channels are developed on the skin’s surface which prompts the production of collagen and enhances the skin’s overall appearance.

Micro-Needling and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

The micro-needling treatment is often done in combination with platelet-rich plasma, or PRP.  Used to encourage the skin’s natural healing and rejuvenation process, micro-needling with PRP uses the body’s own platelets to enhance the results of micro-needling.  These platelets contain growth factors which are released to accelerate the body’s healing process by promoting the production of new collagen and elastin.  The addition of PRP with micro-needling is an ideal treatment for clients looking to minimize the appearance of aging including acne scars, stretch marks, wrinkles and fine lines.

Procedure:

The Eclipse MicroPen® glides over the treatment area and uses tiny needle pricks to create micro injuries to the skin.  This in turn stimulates the skin’s healing process with the production of collagen and elastin, two important proteins in the skin.  Collagen is the main structural component of the skin because it provides firmness and shape.  Meanwhile, elastin helps skin tighten and regain its youthful appearance.

If PRP is used, a small amount of your blood is drawn from your arm, and then spun down in a machine that separates out the platelet-rich plasma.  Once this is done, the PRP is then applied to the treatment area while the micro-needling is performed to reduce friction so the MicroPen® glides properly.  It will penetrate the skin through the small channels that are created and enhance the growth factors.

Recovery:

Recovery is minimal, making this the perfect treatment for those who want to rejuvenate their skin effectively but without surgery or significant downtime.  The face may be swollen and red for 1-2 days following treatment, and exercise may be resumed the following day after treatment or as advised by your practitioner.

Frequency and Results:

It is recommended that you receive anywhere from 4-8 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results.  However, you can begin to see results after 2 treatments as the collagen continues to produce.  By repeating this treatment as recommended by your provider and following a healthy skincare regimen at home, you can dramatically improve your skin’s overall appearance.
